Sad news for Vampire Weekend fans.
The multi-instrumentalist responsible for contributing to band’s shift of sound on the indie rock staple’s many albums has announced today that he would be leaving the band as a full-time member.
He left a note for fans on his Twitter account today.
— Rostam Batmanglij (@matsoR) January 26, 2016
Batanglij recently released a solo track titled “EOS,”
and has also teamed up with Ra Ra Riot on the band’s track “Water.”
The producer brings up his need to work on solo material over group material in his note, but how will his decision effect the future of Vampire Weekend?
Contra, my personal favorite, was completely influenced by Batmanglij. The difference in sound can be heard throughout the band’s different albums and that’s all thanks to Rostam.
What do you think? Will Vampire Weekend be the same?
