Local Natives announce third studio album ‘Sunlit Youth’

After breaking its silence with the release of “Past Lives,” the first bit of new music since 2013’s Hummingbird, LA-based Local Natives have announced the release of its third studio album Sunlit Youth set to release September 9.

Along with the album announcement, the band also released a new track titled “Villainy,” a track band member Ryan Hahn says, “Lyrically, is about realizing that you have the ability to change your situation, that you can start again everyday.”

The “Villiany” lyric video, directed by Andrew Droz Palermo, can be watched below.

“A lot of the excitement in making this new album came from discovering how to make songs in different ways. You start thinking, ‘What do I want to hear?’ Forget about what we’ve done and what people expect. This is a song I would want to hear.”

Sunlit Youth is a 12-song record featuring “Past Lives” and “Villiany” as the opening tracks. The albums is already proving to be a strong release with anthem-like ballads heard on “Past Lives” and the eccentric sound on “Villiany,” I have no doubt Sunlit Youth will have many tricks under its sleeve.
